For over 60 years, The Arc of Butler County has been advocating for families and self-advocates to ensure that:
- Families have access to information, support, and advocacy
- People with disabilities have access to quality education and community services
- Policymakers and legislators are informed about disability issues
- Ideas of self-determination, inclusion, and person-centered planning are the foundation of individual’s supports
The Arc of Butler County works hard to be an advocate for people with disabilities.
People with ID/DD and/or ASD may need support of advocates to: Know, Understand, and Assert Their Rights.
Our Advocacy also ensures individuals receive services needed. These include:
- Support for parents/families to obtain early intervention services for newborn and preschool children.
- Help with securing appropriate public school programs for school-aged children with special needs.
- Assistance with the public school programs for transition from school to community bound services.
- Aid to individuals and families in dealing with on-going challenges in life.
- Systemic advocacy in cooperation with The Arc of Pennsylvania and The Arc of the United States.
- General educational material regarding intellectual and developmental disabilities for the public.
- Information related to the prevention of intellectual disabilities.
